Kitchen Notes (E-Zine) Vol. 1, 2025
Nearly every day, my partner Neil and I exchange handwritten notes: love letters, drawings, random musings, and little reminders. It’s become a cherished ritual, a way of staying connected amidst the routines of life. These notes are collected in an ongoing notebook that lives on our kitchen counter, constantly growing with our words and sketches.
This small habit has deepened my appreciation for the beauty of handwritten communication. During these uniquely divisive times, love is a radical act. To write by hand. To reach out with vulnerability. These acts of resistance are worth preserving.
To expand this practice, I invited others to share their own handwritten love notes, messages, or drawings. The notes in Volume 1 were collected during our duo-exhibition Love Games from the community members and visitors at Prairie State College.
